• Personnel Management & Industrial Relations

This is a two-year full time Programme in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations on the completion of which, students are conferred with Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations.

• General Management Programme For Working Executives

This is a One year General Management Programme for working executives. Candidates applying for this course must hold a minimum of three years Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University in India/abroad in any discipline, be employed in a full-time job, must have at least five years of relevant managerial experience as on March 31, 2009 in an organization of repute in the public, private or nongovernmental sector after completing graduation.

• Executive Post Graduate Programme (Exec PGP)

The Exec-PGP programme provides executives with an opportunity to earn a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management without interrupting their career. The curriculum is similar to that of the BM programme and it is recognized by AICTE and is equivalent to an MBA. The participants spend about 165 days in Campus in thirty months to complete the course requirements.

To get admission to XLRI, candidates have to appear for XAT which is usually held in the month of January every year. To register for XAT, candidates have to fill the XAT Form that is available online at www.xlri.edu. Once the candidate logs on to this site, a full set of instructions will appear. The candidate can obtain his/her ID and password by following these instructions. This ID and password are to be indicated for all the future correspondence with the XAT Office, Jamshedpur.

Selection Criteria : A candidate may apply for a maximum of three programmes. Those who apply for multiple programmes may be called for multiple interviews and/or group discussions. The selection criteria for different programmes may differ depending on the nature of the programme. XAT written test will have multiple components and you need to maximize your performance in each of these components. In its pursuit of academic excellence, XLRI actively encourages the students from diverse backgrounds. While preparing the short-listed candidates for the interview, in addition to XAT Performance, we may factor in academic ability and the relevant work experience. Besides performance in the personal interviews (and/or group discussions), we will also consider XAT performance, relevant work experience, academic ability, extra curricular activities etc. while preparing the final list.

About XAT 2008 XAT 2008 had three sections, 'Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VA)', 'Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QA)' and 'Analytical Reasoning and Decision Making Ability (AR)'. For Personnel Management and Industrial Relations Programme a total of 288 applicants having more than 93.4 percentile in VA, 83 percentile in QA, 90.5 percentile in RA, and overall 97.5 percentile were shortlisted for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. For Business Management Programme a total of 490 applicants having more than 90.4 percentile in VA, 92.9 percentile in QA, 90.5 percentile in RA, and overall 98.5 percentile were shortlisted for Personal Interview.

• XAT Bulletin and XLRI Prospectus can be obtained from select branches of Axis Bank or from The Admission Office, XLRI during September 01- November 30, 2008.
• Last date for the online registration for XAT as well as for XLRI : November 30, 2008.
• XAT test : Sunday, January 04, 2009 in 31 cities across the country for all four programmes (BM, PMIR, FPM and GMP).
