JMET

Appearing for Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (JMET 2009) is the first step in the process of seeking admission to the two year full time Post-Graduate Programmes in Management offered by IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee. The IISc and participating IITs will use the results of JMET 2009 to short list candidates for the subsequent part of the selection process(es). Applicants should note that they have to apply for and send separate application forms to IISc and different IITs as per their choices.

Important Dates

Date of submission of Online Applicaion: 8th September 2008.
Last Date of submission of Online Applicaion: 8th October 2008.
Receipt of Completed Aplication Form at IIT Kanpur: 17th October 2008.
Date of Entrance Exam: 4th December 2008.
Announcement of JMET 2009 Result: 5th January 2009.

Test Pattern JMET

According to IIT Kanpur, JMET 2009 will be of 3 hours duration. The test will consist of 120 questions (objective / multiple choice type) in the following sections:

  1. Verbal Communication
  2. Logical Reasoning
  3. Quantitative Ability
  4. Data Interpretation
Earlier the test was two hours long with 150 questions where the sections were same. There is negative marking for incorrect answers. For a wrong answer to a question, 25% of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. Moreover, for a candidate to be qualified in JMET 2009, he/she should, not only, secure certain minimum marks in the test paper, but also, should necessarily obtain certain minimum marks in each of the four sections stated above.The test will be held in 37 test centres in 8 cities include Bangalore, Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee and Madras.
